2021 Hyundai Tucson Scores Zero Stars In Latin NCAP

Hyundai Tucson was first introduced in 2004, and the fourth generation is now available in Europe and the United States. The third-generation model, on the other hand, is still available in a few countries. The 2021 third-generation Tucson, built in Korea, was crash tested by Latin NCAP and received a 0 star rating.

Crash Test Results

Standard safety equipment included two front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat belt petitioners, and driver-side seat belt warning in the test version. ESC, for example, is an optional feature.
Tucson received a 51 percent rating for adult occupants, with outstanding protection for the user's chest, head, neck, and knees. The driver's side guard, on the other hand, was barely enough. The bodyshell was stable and strong enough to support extra weight.

Tucson did well for adults, but it fell short when it came to child occupancy. It received only a 4% rating for kid safety. Tucson lost more points due to the failure of CRS installation in the middle seat, which was only fitted with a lap belt. Hyundai did not recommend child restraint devices, which resulted in a score of zero in the dynamic test.

Tuscon achieved 2.46/3 points in the whiplash effect rear impact test and 7.86/8 points in the side moveable deformable barrier test. Optional safety equipment such as side airbags and electronic stability control cost the Tucson extra points.
Another issue for pedestrians was the lack of automated emergency braking (AEB). This is an important feature for preventing pedestrian accidents and close calls..

India-spec Tucson

Despite the fact that the identical third generation is marketed in India, the version sold in our country is better equipped than the Latin NCAP version. As a result, the test results do not apply to the version sold in this country.

Six airbags, vehicle stability management system, ESC, TPMS, hill start aid, ISOFIX anchors, 3-point seatbelts for all rear passengers, and brake assist are among the Tucson's safety features. Rear and front parking sensors, as well as a reverse parking camera, are included as standard equipment.

This list of safety features is certainly encouraging and reassuring for Indian shoppers, but it does not end there. Hyundai is also putting the fourth-generation Tucson through its paces in order to launch it in India. A test mule was spotted on our roads, and the EuroNCAP gave this fourth-generation model a 5-star rating.
